You can run your own instance if you can pay for your server, including ip/clowd whatever and domain name. And #fedicon is a 2day event in physical space, not in #Cambodia or #Senegal or #Uruguay but in W.Canada N.America
Not the cheapest city to visit even if you had the funds to get there. Attending doesn't mean participating in decision making, you can hope for influence.
That's the thing, you have to buy "freedom" and if you can afford it you might join the club

A phone and a sim and connection charges ... everything the NSA wants you to do so you can be held liable ... and pretty much any service you buy records a legal entity ... and that justifies all forms of self imposed censorship
Then tell me ONE fediverse platform that does not require even reading without enabling scripts? NSA-rust?
Compile ONE instance that is not susceptible to MIM attacks? #RUST #go ... -
