I cut a few slices of bread, place them on a big plate, shred cheese all over them then microwave til the cheese melts. Then pour some ketchup on top.

      DON’T JUDGE ME! 😭

Steak. It’s surprisingly low effort to get a really tasty one, just gotta know the process.

Salt and throw in a low temp oven with a temp probe alarm, then go and have fun. When it hits temp, pan sear for 60 per side and you got something tasty with like 3 min working time.

Recently, when we don’t feel like cooking after work, we’ve been making mashed potatoes (the pre-packaged, powder kind, because it’s WAY less work and surprisingly good), and then topping it with a big spoon of Laoganma, specifically the Crispy Chilly in Oil. Takes less than 5 minutes from geting the pot to sitting down to eat.

If you’re feeling extra fancy, fry an egg to put on top.

It’s always been wild to me that steak houses are seen as sort of a fancy/high-end dining experience

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good steak, and steaks can get pricey, so I get it from that angle

But steak isn’t hard to do, even the fancy-schmanciest preparations usually aren’t exactly complicated.

And the sides are usually pretty damn straightforward as well- baked or mashed potatoes, various vegetables that have basically been just been roasted or sauteed with some fat and seasonings

My wife and I have sort of a “no steakhouses” rule for our date nights. It’s not that we wouldn’t enjoy the food, but it’s also mostly stuff that we could make at home for half the price and not much effort.

I find they are also easy to fuck yup if the person preparing them isn’t careful. I can’t even justify voting at the grocery store anymore given what prices have risen to, and I make decent money. Previously I would really never go to a restaurant for a steak because in my experience I can cook a steak just as well or better than most places I have ever been. That said, shoutout to the place I had one at the Newark, NJ airport back in September. One of the best I have ever had. That meal for one person cost a hundred US dollars though.

Low effort pizza is the best dish.
