TV died :/
-
It wasn't, like, out of nowhere, it's been having difficulty turning on the last couple days. I did hope it would make it to the weekend and hey, technically it did >_>
@CactuarJoe I got a far-larger-than-I-intended "smart" tv from BestBuy not that long ago, they have crazy stupid sales all the times.
The ones that come with Amazon baked in have a "dumb tv" mode you can choose during setup that tells it not to use any of the smart tv functions, and as long as you never connect it to Wifi it won't be able to report anything back to Bezos.

Toilet clogged now. I love this day.

TV died
Backup TV is literally so old my PC doesn't support that resolution
Guess it's time for a replacement. How much does a decent quality dumb TV go for these days anyway?
@CactuarJoe power supply replacement time

@CactuarJoe Damn bruh did you crack open a cursed fortune cookie? Cross any black cats lately? Or break a mirror?
-
@CactuarJoe Can we even get non-smart TVs anymore? I am babying my 2010 plasma screen and I've got another flatscreen out in the garage that my mom didn't want anymore that just needs some connectors cleaned (according to the internet). I guess now technically I'm hoarding non-smart TVs?
@arisummerland Man I'm lookin' and I am seeing *nothing* but Smart TVs
This sucks.

@rifter Alas, I am nowhere near that skilled
Look at me, I'm on Mastodon and I don't even run Linux

Also do they sell models UNDER 50 inches? God damn people I'm sitting three feet from my TV, I do not need a TV that big

@CactuarJoe Do you have a thrift shop available? They have decent slightly-old TVs sometimes.

@CactuarJoe What resolution are you looking for? Costco has a 43" 4k Hisense for $200, and a 32" 1080p for $110.
Unfortunately, both are "smart" and Costco doesn't seem to sell any that aren't. There are commercial panels that are -not- smart., but those are significantly more expensive. Amazon has a 43" 4k Samsung but it's $450.

@trixter It's alright, I managed to find a decent sub-$200 TV new. Thank god. ^^

Alright, TV replaced, toilet drained, where's the nearest burger joint I need the greasiest piece of shit cheeseburger the law will allow.

@wheeljack Weird how the not-smart is more expensive
But I found a passable 32" LG for $170, easy and done.

@CactuarJoe Doesn't surprise me. They're not making the ad/data revenue on the back end.

@wheeljack Makes sense.

Had a frustrating moment where I thought this TV's latency was *atrociously bad* and I was gonna have to return it, until I noticed the power saving options were all turned on >_>
There's always eight layers of bullshit on these smart TVs, huh?
