    I miss message board format.
    I think we peaked between the message board format and the rise of Twitter.
    Bring back the website with the message board attached for fans of whatever is going on there. Let’s start over.

      @ErickaSimone

      I'm not disagreeing, but feel I should point out message boards require moderation and policies; same as any social media.

      Meaning they can work when run by dedicated volunteers, but for-profit companies see them as cost-centers and eventually shut them down after they first cut moderation headcount and then let them turn into sewers.

      (Forex, Crunchyroll.)

      Lemmy is probably the closest Fediverse version of a message board. You might want to look at it.

        @ErickaSimone
        Message board fans should take a look at @nodebb . The newest version (4.0.x) federates, so you can boost fedi posts into the forum, follow subforums and respond to threads from masto/friendica/whatever.

        They have a long history as a message board, so that part is really solid. The fedi part is still under development, but already very useful.

          Engaging with federated content in a classical message board has been an absolute trip. This is admittedly kind of weird, but nodeBB v4 actually takes my breath away sometimes, and feels like magic.

          I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like once the ActivityPub integration matures.
