Ironically I think joining BRICS would be a great move for the EU right now, both as an immediate out from the dollar based economic order and to pretty much jam soft power crowbar into BRICS itself that might turn it into a more open economic union and not just Chinas (and Russia playing with an unplugged controllers) sphere of influence.

You REALLY think any other NATO’s member would lift a finger? Some will just make public statement saying that’s “not following international laws”, some will call for “de-escalation”, but no one will actually declare war to the US. They won’t even send equipment’s support to Denmark, as all they can spare was/is sent to Ukraine.

Similarly, is Canada actively preparing its army to defend Greenland from a US agression? Anyone believes Canada would do anything at all?

No one, absolutely no one will come defend Greenland, not even Denmark. They would have to send F35 to defend it, with their missions entry going through a server… in the US!! (And these geniuses doubled down, ordering more F35 last october, and they just ordered more military equipment from the US!).

No NATO member will declare war to the US.

The only option they would have is to immediately build a military base in Greenland with forces from all European countries, ready to fight. And then, MAYBE Trump will think twice before invading it.

Sorry, but these are prudent things to do if you wish to prepare for potential military activity in your country, or indeed some other form of catastrophic event.

You may choose to do these or you may not, but whether you want to live in this world may be irrelevant to whether it is thrust upon you.

And if one’s choice is instead to simply fold over and let someone like the US take over their country, I highly recommend that they keep that to themselves, and don’t get in the way of the people who are willing to fight. To be neutral is one thing, to be a traitor is rather another, and traitors do not historically get treated very kindly, particularly during occupation, when the state is too busy to enforce due process and mob justice is more likely. Mob justice is characteristically unpleasant.

Please forgive my hard edged tone, it was too much and I own it. Let’s put politics aside. I know we’re talking about a hypothetical, but regardless, what you’re saying sounds like despair. Please don’t make a permanent decision based on the unknown right now, and reach out to someone if you need to talk.

I get why it feels like “nothing would ever be normal again.” That fear makes sense. But you seem to be saying there are no options, and I don’t think that’s true. People do survive huge disruptions and later rebuild a life that’s meaningful again; sometimes they stay, sometimes they relocate.

Because frankly the ideology of our current crop of right wing loons is a carbon copy of the US, and the US funds our right wing think tanks and NGOs.
