@pseudo_ursus I've enjoyed the series. Better than your average romance for me. That sequel hook is typical in romances, though. Very different from fantasy.

#JustFinished Katabasis by R.F. KuangKuang's writing is lovely, and her focus on academia resonates with me. The characters were realistic. I was disappointed in this story. Interestingly, there was a lot of talk about the pacing during the book club meeting. Apparently, many people don't like it. I recognize there was ebb and flow and it wasn't the usual way to do it. Personally, I saw it as rebuilding the tension and leaving us to steep in the mystery of what was happening.
