I am insanely thrilled to announce that my amazing partner got the job!!! Starting Wednesday, he will be employed again for the first time in two years.
As he is want to point out in a desperate attempt to deflect any recognition of accomplishment, it *is* only part-time. But I think that's going to be an excellent starting point for him. He's clearly developed rapport with his new boss.. (ahem) just like I told him he would.
I am so very, very, very proud of you @g1m01982. Even if it *doesn't* work out, you landed a job that was supposed to be a "throwaway" interview. Even if you realize a few days later that you aren't ready -- you've made an amazing, brave step.

BUT WAIT.. THERE'S MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After two years of encouragement and at times excessive pressure from our conservative, mormon families against my partner to get a job, despite his crippling, untreated trauma..
we get to inform them that he is now about to be employed at a lingerie store that is a subsidiary of a national adult magazine company.
I cannot tell you how delicious we find this irony
HANG ON, I'M NOT DONE!!
I can't guarantee this will get us out of the woods financially right away; we'll need to fundraise deposit, rent and fees to get into an apartment (which is all the more critical since we only have one 20-yo car and we're currently living 25 miles from what will soon be both our jobs) but I truly hope that we'll soon be able to let the amazing #Fediverse community direct funds to others in need.
You've allowed me to give my partner the opportunity to begin recovering after years of trauma followed by years of repression, instead of burying and compartmentalizing.. which keeps those wounds fresh and raw, hidden just under the surface.
Your donations gave him the opportunity to start healing.
You've allowed us to stay off the streets, to put food in our mouths, to pay our car insurance and phone bills and gas and groceries and prescriptions and THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING WAY we could've made it without our friends here.
