    (The network in question also tried to discredit women who accused powerful men of rape. Transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, rape culture: it's all part of the same phenomenon.)

    Lawrence Krauss, Richard Dawkins, Steven Pinker and other anti-trans influencers personally benefited from a right-wing academic social group backed by infamous human trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, sometimes meeting at his island.

      @cstross Fucking Dawkins and Pinker. Before Epstein happened/was revealed I realized that who I had thought were modern intellectuals were, in fact, massive and amoral shit-bags. It made the Epstein thing burn less (ouch) but finding out that people you'd once admired were even bigger shit-bags than the shit-bags you found out they were doesn't lessen the original self-questioning: it my judgement *that* flawed?!

Let's face it, their are a select few that punishment will never happen to because they have already invested billions into the .gov, so much, they now own the .govs ass, when your in that position, you can walk daily, and not have any kind of fear. They should all be HUNG, riches and houses taken away and put back in to the circle to help bring life to so struggling!

                      @cstross for some reason Steven Pinker was a a mutual on Twitter for some years, he blocked me as soon as I asked about his association with Epstein. He almost certainly had something to hide, in my opinion

                        @cstross Oh boy. I had the unfortunate experience to witness Krauss’ creepiness at The Amazing Meeting in Vegas one year (prior to the Epstein revelations). My BIL and I ran into him in the hallway of the hotel. He asked where the action was and we shared that we were off to a private party and he was welcome to join us. At the party he latched on to one of the women there and we caught him frequently refilling her drink every time she looked away. We got her out of there.

                          @cstross @sstrader Stopped caring about Dawkins and Pinker well before learning of their Epstein connections.
                          More recently learned about Chomsky and Minsky’s involvement with him.

                            @cstross

                            One really would like to know who wanted Epstein to reel in social scientists and computer science / applied math types at MIT.

                            I’m counting up people in that list who were at MIT in the 1980s and then had links further into Harvard. Pinker, Stallman and Summers are about the same vintage; Chomsky more than a generation older.

                              You seem to be a USAn, and fixated on your own small provincial ex-superpower.

                              I'd like to remind you that this corruption is global. They've taken us back to 1985, with 73% of the world population living under undemocratic regimes (the USA included, although that's only 5%).

                                @cstross I assumed that someone who was Islamophobic was in general an asshole, but I hadn't realized those people would devote so much time to transphobia.

                                Generic misogyny, yes; I seem to remember reading one of these people refer to a strawwoman as "Muslima", and I wanted to throw up.

                                Deb Nam-Krane “Dear Muslima” was a response Dawkins made to Rebecca Watson after she asked atheist convention goers to not randomly proposition women they didn’t know in otherwise empty elevators at 2am.
