USA is blatantly working to break-up Canada.

Not only is the Trump administration in talks with Alberta separatists, they’re actively working to destabilize my country.

    @atomicpoet

Canada will be JUST FINE. It's got a stable economy and actual intelligence in top government. It's also got intelligence support from the rest of the world. The US has none of these things currently.

Yeah, none of this is new or at all surprising, least of all under a wannabe God-Emperor. The only difference is who they're doing it to.

@theogrin We got away with it for so long because we acted like Americans, often on their behalf. All in the guise of “friendship”. Trump is simply the first guy to go mask off.

@megatronicthronbanks Never assume everything will be just fine. Always consider the possibility that Trump means what he says.

@atomicpoet As an Albertan, I find this both utterly unsurprising, and yet still offensive. What it isn't, is worrisome, at least not any more so than Trump's other threats to Canada's sovereignty. There's just no way that our separatist clowns are getting anywhere near the 170K signatures they need to trigger a referendum, and no way for them to win even if they could. 70% against! This is just another Team Trump attempt at distracting from the real question: where *are* the Epstein files?

@Doppelganger75 Provinces and states are not tradeable like hockey players. The last time US states tried to secede, there was a civil war.

Time to take this topic seriously. This isn't a lighthearted joke.

I'm not afraid Albertans will vote to separate. I'm worried US will use it as a pretext for invasion.

@atomicpoet Sorry, but I just don't see it happening. Trump has already chickened out on Greenland. Polls show the American public is sick of his antics and has no appetite for war, especially with Canada. He'll be irrelevant soon, and there's nobody else on the horizon with his particular ability to captivate the dumb masses.

Scooter8647 🇺🇦 🇳🇿 It doesn’t matter if you don’t see it happening. If it does happen, what is Canada going to do about it?

Trump didn’t chicken out of Greenland. He left the matter alone for now. He can choose to invade at a later time.

And you say Trump will be irrelevant soon. But what if he’s not? What if decides to run as Vice-President, then take on the role of President after JD Vance resigns?

@atomicpoet Canada and the EU seem to be doing the right thing by moving away from all things American, and the Minnesota protests are nothing compared to what would happen here if the idiot tried to invade Canada. Yes, he's crazy and dangerous, so neither of us can take anything for granted, but I'm more worried about the billionaires (Thiel and those funding Project 25, in particular) than Trump himself.

@atomicpoet I don't think the military commanders, who mostly can't stand draft-dodger Trump (or media pretty-boy Hegseth) will stand for it, but I certainly don't have all the answers. What do you suggest?

                              Scooter8647 🇺🇦 🇳🇿 I’m not an American, so I don’t know what is doable.

But as a Canadian, we need to invest in our military, diversify our trade, and prepare for the possibility that the US will attempt to annex us.

While we’re at it, we need to stay vigilant, spurn Fascism, and build a model for an actual functioning democracy.

@atomicpoet Trump is in no economic position to sustain war debt by attacking another country. All he can do is piss in your direction. Also, China won't allow him to mess with it's new-found trading partner. In other words, the world is not coming to an end.
