Addendum: If you have alternate pitches, please use TTRPG with an open license!

Jürgen Hubert I’m running PF2e and have a 12 year old who has taken 19th century European military history on as a special interest, while I’m much more into the 17th century aesthetic. So there’s no wrong answer here, as far as I’m concerned.

@juergen_hubert What would that game be about? Pathfinder, like all DnD-like games, is about killing things, taking their stuff, and getting rich and powerful in the process. That doesn't really fit the kind of stories that are told in the extant German folklore. BRP doesn't really know what it's about, so ...

Most folklore is rooted in a place, but the time isn't actually that important most of the time. I wouldn't go for a historic setting with folklore tweaks, but go full on folklore:

@dimllychlyngarw Basically, it would be a crossover. I mean, crossovers between different genres were all the rage back in the #GURPS days, and this kind of thing would get my creative juices flowing.

I know that #BRP would be the easier "fit" for tales closer to German folk tales (although some fundamental challenges remain), but I'd be curious where a worldbuilding effort involving both #Pathfinder tropes and German #folklore would take me.
