Please read what Mekka wrote. I'm quoting rather than boosting so I can add the CW for folks who avoid U.S. politics. Sometimes when I quote, it doesn't connect right, so here is the topic:

He pinpointed what (I think) a lot of people are missing about what has been happening in the U.S. By allowing big money in politics, we have given fossil fuel barons control over our energy policies. Naturally, they are against the competition that cleaner energy generation brings. They cannot abide that threat to their income.

So they fund media to convince the populace that those technologies are "not there yet" or "just as bad, really." They throw money into discrediting global warming. They make sure that they highlight anything remotely bad that happens (normal growing pains of a new industry) that is related to solar, wind, anything else that they deem threatening to their market share. They stifle news about solutions that will prevent those issues from occurring again. And as a country, we fall for it. We don't just agree; some of us make it our identity to hang on to fossil fuels. The "rolling coal" ridiculousness is a fantastic example of that.

And the way they grab a lot of folks and suck them into this is by using racism. They play to those prejudices in ways that are so effective that we are now lagging behind when we could have been leaders. As a country, we have decided we would rather be racist than throw our considerable weight into innovation and mastering new technologies.

That's why Maga calls solar and wind energy "woke." It's the racism. They have deliberately worked to alter the meaning of "woke" to reduce its power and turn it into code that suits their purpose. It's hard for some white people to see the racism that is embedded into what's happening, but once you do, you cannot unsee it.

If you don't already follow @mekkaokereke I recommend him as a great person to follow.
