I don't know if all Fedi servers automatically put a "read more" for long Mastodon posts. Mine does, but maybe that's not the default. So I put this behind a CW because it's longer than usual.
We played our Pathfinder 2 game on Saturday and it was a tough one!
At one point, my cleric was down to 5 hit points. That's not a typo. FIVE! She was a hurtin' unit.
It was the dragon from last week. We made a grave miscalculation that we were "supposed" to fight the dragon, and we definitely were not supposed to do that at this point. It was so bad. Two of us got hit, failed a save, and went PERMANENTLY BLIND.
I don't mean we would never see again. I mean it was not something that would wear off on its own.
The Fighter got out a rope that we could hold onto and started to guide us so that we didn't get separated.
I remembered that I had a feat that let me use Lay on Hands with two actions to attempt to counteract something like that, and it worked! So I could see again, but I could only do that once (I needed to focus for 10 minutes before I could do it again). So the Champion was still blind.
Then we thought maybe one of my wands would fix her, but no. It was for poison and things like that. Not blindness.
The Wizard came to the rescue - he had a potion of Panacea and that worked.
But we definitely got our collective rear ends handed to us and finally (on the brink of death) I yelled that we should Get Inside the Tower because whatever was in there was not a DRAGON.
So that's what we did. And it was still tough, but it was not as bad as that dragon.
We fought a couple of really big scary spiders, and they did some damage, but it was "normal" as far as fights go. It was just that the dragon had already tenderized us.
I had to do a lot of healing as fast as I could, and that meant spending some actual spells, which I try not to do.
Probably my best contribution this session was Cleanse Air. I saw a big spore thing as soon as we got into the tower, and I cast Cleanse Air. That kept the spore thing from infecting us and it also kept the spiders from spraying us with spores as well.
It was not easy, but we defeated them.
Then we went into the next room. There were four ghosts, and they had apparently been elves during their lives. I'm not sure what else they had been, but they were all casters and they really liked using Vampiric Touch.
They could fly at will, they could drain our hit points, and they were hard to damage.
And I had already used a bunch of Heal spells, which would have been ACES on these undead.
The Wizard cast Slow, which got all of the ghosts to one degree or another. That probably kept us from dying, because they could ALL cast a 3-action harm, which would heal them and hurt us. Once he slowed them, they couldn't do that anymore.
And then another one came from the back room. He had not been hit by the slow spell, and the Wizard didn't have any more of those prepared.
So we all concentrated on the new guy and just as we were making progress, ANOTHER ONE came from the back room. So we all whaled on him too, and the Fighter got in a really lucky reactive strike. She rolled a 20 and knocked that guy right out of his spell (which was a 3-action Harm). So that was very cool.
It took a long time, but we finally defeated all of the ghosts, and no more of them popped out of the Clown Car Room. The Wizard announced that he could teleport us away so we could recover, and then he could teleport us back at a more opportune time (like when we weren't all out of spells and badly banged up). So that's where we left it.
Also, I don't know if I ever explained this, but some folks might be wondering about the group so I thought I'd go over that.
Our DM is a lady, the Wizard is played by a guy (and the Wizard is a guy), the Champion is played by a guy (and is a lady), and the Fighter is played by a guy (and is a lady). So reading this, it might sound like we have mostly ladies because I'm referring to the characters. But the group is three men and two women. It's just that two of the men are playing women right now, so the party is 3 women and 1 man.
I don't know if that makes a hill of beans of difference to anyone. It just occurred to me that it might sound like something it's not, really.

@AngelaPreston What a tale! I miss my old RPG group. I tried finding another group for a couple of years but could never find one that I feel like I meshed with. I should try again.

@moelassus I hope you can! It's hard to find a good group but it's so much fun when it happens.
