@Taskerland The cognitive dissonance must be causing crippling migraines!
@ZDL It's a strobe-like effect.

@Taskerland I'd heard about Goodman. What's the deal with Pinnacle?

@PDStorrie Turns out that Shane Hensley was a huge fan of Charlie Kirk. It put a lot of his Heroic Confederacy stuff in a rather unsavoury light.

@Taskerland Ah. Didn't know the first and didn't get deep enough into Dead lands to pick up on the second. Disappointing.
Thanks for the info!

Moreau Vazh I hadnโt heard about Goodman, either. Iโm assuming itโs what Iโm currently seeing about their working with Judgeโs Guild, which seems to be run by out and open neonazis? Or have they taken other masks off that arenโt floating to the top of the search engines yet?

@kichae Goodman are representative of a deeper problem in that they have a history of doing dubious things, lying about them, and being immediately forgiven.

Moreau Vazh Oh, fun! So, they have a whole pattern of bad behaviours! And here I thought it was just selling overpriced copies of 40 year old modules to people who donโt understand the games they play enough to replace old monsters with new ones.

@Taskerland I don't want to add to your mental load, but just wondering how many layers of indirection your hatred can sustain?
Bob Bledsaw Jr. said some vile things and when confronted about it, doubled down on what he said. He deserves to be hated.
Joseph Goodman re-entered into a business relationship with JG after saying it was over. He did distance himself from Bledsaw's repugnant and racist beliefs. Nonetheless, the decision to go ahead with CSIO was indefensible.

@Taskerland
I can understand your hatred for Goodman, though I don't share it. I was disappointed more than anything, because the decision went against my previous good experiences of GG. I disagree with that decision and the rationalisations that followed. But I don't boycott every company that does something I disagree with.Asserting an equivalence between GG and ICE seems like a bit of a stretch.

@Taskerland If you extend your hatred to people who like GG, is not the logical end position that you just hate everyone?

@strangequark That's a slippery slope and when I finally crack and admit that I hate everything and everyone, I will make that statement rather than hide it in hostility to specific companies.
I think what happened with GG is that they came across as dishonest and ethically compromised. I'm not boycotting them as I don't play their games anyway.
I go on about GG in part because the hobby talks the good talk about opposing fascism and then let GG skate... 'Ah but they're a great bunch of lads'.

@strangequark The problem is that that has happened several times now and each time it's 'Ah but they're a great bunch of lads' and the suggestion here is that the real crime is not funnelling money to neo-Nazis or lying, it's not being one of the lads and GG are manifestly not guilty of that.
I think a hobby that lets people like GG or PEG skate only to then wring its hands about the reality of the political forces these people work with is duplicitous and bankrupt.

@Taskerland Your criticism of GG is valid. I agree with you that they should not have continued with the CSIO project after Bledsaw's comments. I'm not in any way justifying that decision, they were wrong to do it.
It seems like an impossibly high bar to only deal with companies that behave impeccably. Should we stop buying books published by Bloomsbury because they enable the hate speech of J.K. Rowling against the LGBTQ+ community by selling Harry Potter? Where do you draw the line?

@strangequark I draw a line where I see it, that is all that I can do. It is all that anyone can ever do.
I don't know about Bloomsbury but I also don't think that I am under any obligation to shut up because I don't have a perfect and universal basis for moral judgement.
Moral judgements are personal and I am the first to admit that I am very sensitive to a lot of this stuff, but my thumbs start pricking when people say they care about this stuff and then give people they like a pass.

@Taskerland I empathise with how you feel. I also hate some people for what they have done. I zucking hate Mark Fuckerberg for example. He is one of the worst examples of a human being and literal books have been written about all the atrocious things he has done. I criticise Meta regularly and I refuse to use any of their products.
Nonetheless, the majority of people I know use WhatsApp. Somehow I have to balance my hatred for Meta with not pissing off literally everyone I know.
