Treating followers as trusted is my biggest peeve I have about Mastodon (and, probably, about other fediverse software as well). Those are completely different entities. You following me is a convenience for you. I write some public shit, you enjoy that shit, you follow me. If you are an asshole, I might have something to say, and block you, so you aren't able to see my shit and interact with it. And that's it. In a generalise case I do not need to trust you for you to follow me.
But I also need to be able to share something only with the people I trust. So, I would be glad to establish a trusted circle, or a few of them, to share my toots with.
There is a workaround. One may have a public account, and the private account. And this is how people are getting this functionality here. So, the need is apparent, but the functionality is lacking.
Maybe it's time for me, to have two accounts as well. But knowing myself the most probable outcome is that I will be using one of them, neglecting the other. So, kinda pointless.
So, I guess, I will be like the average website - sharing my personal stuff with 934 trusted partners. I meant followers. Wanna cookie?
