I'm going to admit to something that's going to get me in trouble.
I *despise* "neopronouns". I'm talking about things like "hir", "faer", "xe" and so on.
I don't dislike the idea. Gender is far beyond a binary. We need new words.
I just hate that all these neopronouns sound like bad sci-fi/fantasy fan bullshit. They don't sound like *English*.
But I just have to get over it, I guess. Mutual respect and all that.

Anybody whining and moaning about how "if we would only come to an understanding and cooperate" is a collaborator, and a coward. "Oh no, the US is so divided. Both sides! Both sides!" You've drunk their Kool-Aid and obediently gotten out of the way, bowing down.

"There are three sides to every story" is sophistry. There are not always "three sides". Sometimes one side is right and the other is wrong. That is, ostensibly, why we have courts, though the judicial system has been rigged and currently does not function as intended.
The GOP are *wrong*. The fascists are *wrong*. The phobes are *wrong*. There is no "compromise" that isn't collaborating in some way. "You have to tolerate a little evil to get what you want" is bullshit.

#Fediverse friends, especially denizens of #Lemmy -- is there a Lemmy instance dedicated to #TTRPG discussion? When I went looking at join-lemmy.org it just gave me five video game instances (and no way to see more) when I selected #gaming as my interest.
Now that an Eldar/Aeldari book has been published, I'm actually thinking about picking up Cubicle 7's #WrathAndGlory Warhammer 40K #TTRPG (and the aforementioned Aeldari book). I note that the corebook actually includes Aeldari and Orks as viable PCs; that's very cool, but I want the whole shebang about my favorite faction.
Bust out laptop. Try to look up a helpful variation of "Ubuntu USB live installer not working". Get a bunch of links to people saying "I got it to start partway, but..." Not helpful to me.
Fuck it. Gonna try the new Mint. DLing now, will redo the USB with it.
You #Linux people really need to make this shit Just Work for an average person, not a techie, if you want people to switch from Windows.
Partitioned my OS drive (500 GB SSD with Win 10 already installed), plugged in my bootable USB with Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04, restarted and... dammit.
Had to go into UEFI and change the boot order. Okay, done this before in BIOS, no biggie. Restart.
Try/Install Ubuntu Cinnamon... Locks up. Restart. Try again.... Locks up. Restart. Try again in "safe". Ubuntu live loads. Click "Install"... nothing happens.

@KeithAmmann I've been singing that lament for some time. I joined Mastodon to talk about TTRPGs; it became my primary (sole) social media only when I got booted from Zuckerville. I had to crawl back to Big Purple for actual TTRPG discussion, as it seems only to be an afterthought here. Given the steps I had to take to clear up my feed (including blocking the term "kickstarter"), it seems people primarily use it as an advertising billboard. It's frustrating and disappointing.
@NullNowhere I encounter posts on Mastodon every day in Spanish, French and German that I'd like to be able to read and possibly interact with. Luckily my browser has a function where I can highlight text and get a translation, but I have to use Google's translator for my English to make any reply. This function would actually be quite useful to me.
