@Tim_Eagon @kevin @Da_Gut I spoke regularly with Chris McDowall while he was originally developing Into the Odd, and I seem to recall saying he did it to drive home the danger, yeah.

@kevin @Tim_Eagon @Da_Gut I'm down with that. Defense rolls are just changing the direction of things. As a GM I'd be sad because I *like* rolling dice, but it still makes sense to me.

Been reading a bit about #DrawSteel and... yeah, probably not for me.

I'm totally in favor of being cool from the very start, including being good enough at what you do to usually succeed, but no to-hit rolls? Sorry, that's drifting into "participation trophy" territory for me. If you can't handle missing sometimes, maybe you need to check your expectations.

#TTRPG #blog folks, I have another question. Back in the Day when I was blogging both on the original Polyhedral Dreams and as a contributor at Stargazer's World, I used to bump up against the truism that "nobody posts or reads on the weekend". It seemed self-fulfilling to me, but I have to wonder, is that still a thing?

#TTRPG cliches I never want to hear again:

"get it to the table" -- Pick it up off the shelf, walk over to the table, set it on the table. Done.

"the rules get out of the way" -- If you don't want to engage with rules, why aren't you playing freeform pretend instead?

"swinginess" -- Look at the percentage chance of success, suddenly become less offended by the type of die roll. Just because the percentages are distributed more evenly doesn't make it "wrong".
