@notsoloud @juergen_hubert @growfediverse 100%. Businesses were fine before Facebook and they would be fine without it again. We would just shift to something else. Optimizing Google reviews and running search ads on Google Maps works well too. You fish where the fish are. Right now they are on Meta platforms so we boost our content and do influencer marketing. It’s basically what local TV spots used to be. If Meta went away, there would be something else just as effective that’s sucking up everyone’s attention.

@growfediverse 'nWhile more options are always good, "growth" should _absolutely_ be a goal for the #Fediverse .'nA lot of people, especially small business owners, are dependent on social media for their income, and for that they need reach.@juergen_hubert @growfediverse Facebook is useful to my business to the extent that people stare at it like zombies and I can pay to put my content in front of the ones most likely to respond to it. It’s very effective. I can spend money on Meta ads and watch traffic to my business increase. I don’t want the fediverse to become that because it’s sick. I like having this little corner of the internet. I’m not at all opposed to growth, but what’s good for business isn’t necessarily good for people looking for real engagement online.
