Beat me to it. Examples are right there in the Gospel. Jesus never tells ANYONE to meekly accept abuse. He encourages civil disobedience in response to personal and communal affronts.

#ICE kidnapped four members of the Oglala Sioux Nation and is trying to hold them hostage to force the Sioux to work with #DHS. Working on tribal land would give them legal impunity, so they've been trying to bribe or force Native tribes to work with them across the country. The natives are standing strong-- they don't take bribes and don't negotiate with terrorists.

We need more leaders in Congress who understand the assignment like this.

My own faith has been through it with this, and it's something I've talked with other people of faith about as we push on against the Nazis. So while I do believe in God I'm just like "Whatever, if he's doing anything he can take care of himself, and whether he does anything or not I'll still be there for my neighbor as best I can."

Heh, and in some cases we are risking our lives for strangers because we are Christians who read the story of the Good Samaritan. In the proper context of that story the Samaritan took a real risk in aiding the man who'd been beaten by robbers-- it risked the wrath of the violent criminals to help. That's why priests and others who were supposed to help passed by.

There is nothing new under the sun, as it also says in the Bible. These people just don't read the Bibles they wave.

10 years ago at Trump 1.0 protests was the first time I saw the "Abolish ICE" slogan on signs. I didn't understand, so I read an immigration attorney's blog and the subject and thought, "Oh, okay, that makes sense. Abolish ICE." I was not what you'd call a leftist, just vehemently anti-Trump in general. But yes, it definitely wasn't a mainstream opinion back then.

It sure is now! Besides this, at protests we get all kinds of education about pre-existing problems with ICE.

Resistance like this, like the Portland Frog, like Sandwich Guy, it's all been going on for months across the country. I've been posting a small fraction of the content I see, just the funniest or most moving actions. What's different is the boot licking media outlets are starting to *cover* it. That's been the missing piece all along.

They aren't doing so out of any sense of duty, we know that. They are doing so because reality has caught up to their propaganda.
