Decided to go full analog for #dungeon26 (until I get bored of that). No more rolling on tables in Obsidian or the OSE generators page. I have the five OSE Classic books in my bag but don't generally need many.

If there's a thing that stops me using Reddit, it's less likely to be some nonsense that they pull in terms of their basic service and more likely to be that they just randomly block VPN endpoints. If there's a thing that stops me using Reddit, it's less likely to be some nonsense that they pull in terms of their basic service and more likely to be that they just randomly block VPN endpoints. It's obvious that it's IP banning, if I change to another one it's immediately fine.
VPNs are a fact of life now. You can deal with that or you can die as a website.

Anything which starts off with an underlying assumption of "AI agents remove all ‘friction’ in the economy" is clearly written by yet more of the idiots who dominate discourse on the subject and know cock all about that of which they speak, basing their hype on other hype. I don't think they were even using LLMs to produce this.
About as valuable as "so yah we know AI will be intelligent but maybe it will be EEEVIL".

I was at a conference yesterday which had a couple of talks relating to productive use of LLMs by engineers, which were probably great, but I could not go because the mention of "AI" now brings me out in hives.I was at a conference yesterday which had a couple of talks relating to productive use of LLMs by engineers, which were probably great, but I could not go because the mention of "AI" now brings me out in hives.
I dunno, maybe the constant irrational booster nonsense that's in _every sphere_ as well as _every tool I use_ begging me to use its "AI" subsystem all the time with no off switch. The strain of saying "no it doesn't work like that" every time someone says "AI will write all the code!"

I remember 8th grade, drawing up maps and thinking about logistics support for the scenarios I was planning, and... I think that was the first time I thought about housing supply.@danlyke housing is easy to design compared to sewerage

Finished area B of my #dungeon26 (guest quarters).Finished area B of my #dungeon26 (guest quarters). Probably the servants quarters next as that's a bit of a nexus in the castle, everywhere needs servants or nothing would get done.

Well. The curling!@rgarner I rate curling quite high on the "if you have nothing else to do but look at a telly for a long period" list, though not as high as snooker.

How many of you that still have a job in tech are getting pushed closer and closer to burnout?@thestrangelet Not so much by the job. Life generally, certainly.

If the bar/pub that I go to regularly after work to chill out and write my #dungeon26 is any guide, and I don't think it's bad, using retro digital compacts is a trendy thing with 20-somethings.If the bar/pub that I go to regularly after work to chill out and write my #dungeon26 is any guide, and I don't think it's bad, using retro digital compacts is a trendy thing with 20-somethings. Sometimes it's film compacts but I've seen a lot more digital recently.
You can tell because there's a flash. None of these cameras were capable of high ISO performance, but work fine with a flash - I've got pics from a Canon Powershot around the turn of the millennium that prove that.

Because it was rainy this morning I went through a list of differences between #whiteboxFMAG and #whiteboxcyclopedia #osr #ttrpg which you can find here https://daisychase.net/blog/2026/02/15/white-box-differences-between-fmag-and-cyclopedia/@brian They're just to sub-headings in the document, table of contents style.

Does anyone have any decent sources for early/mid Tudor prices of weapons and armour in England?Does anyone have any decent sources for early/mid Tudor prices of weapons and armour in England? AI slop is a massive issue with web searching now for any sort of historical information - I think maybe that it's connected to teaching material.
This is regarding my #osr #wbfmag Tudoresque setting btw. A penny maps pretty well to a GP in terms of prices for equipment. Prices for armour and complex weapons are famously a joke in these games though (yeah sure plate costs four shillings tuppence).

One thing about this setting is that it must clearly have groats.RE: https://mas.to/@ordinal/116020076161322851
One thing about this setting is that it must clearly have groats. I think #wfrp missed a trick with the lack of coinage between penny and shilling.

I seem to have wandered into writing up this vaguely Tudor #osr setting that I invented just to run #GardensOfYnn with.Dwarves are from the north-east, mostly Yorkshire and the Humber. They're of Scandinavian origin and considered rude. They are, deliberately, not Scottish.
Halflings are mostly from Norfolk and Devon and the peak of culture in those areas.
Elves are remnants of an ancient imperial culture; the Church and most people mistrust them. They mostly left their old city of London for Cornwall where some have developed in magical ways.

The Church is a loose alliance of "Christian" cults for "saints" and "angels" none of whom trust each other but who are prepared to work together to block out heretics. Except when they feud. The Crown encourages feuding and also is into Hermeticism (MUs) to break away from dependence on the occult power of the Church.

Lockdown mode is great, and one of the reasons I would still recommend Apple products if you're handling sensitive data, sources etc.@jalefkowit @ramsey @ianbetteridge @inthehands That mostly looks like a list of things that I don't want anyway, even given I'm not being targeted by governments.

"Tucker's Kobolds" from 1987 is about giving weak #dnd monsters with (honestly) excessive tricks inc traps."Tucker's Kobolds" from 1987 is about giving weak #dnd monsters with (honestly) excessive tricks inc traps. It's a meme now, picked up on YouTube.
Looking through editions, there are zero references to kobolds using traps before it. #odnd just says they are weaker than goblins, basically the crappest humanoid. #adnd1e has them just fighting. #bxdnd says they "ambush". All before 1987. But #adnd2e (1989) has heavy reference to traps for them. TSR eating their own memes.
