@cloudhop I wasn't saying that you weren't right to go on a rant against idiots. I was just clarifying the situation with BOSE as I saw it...

Bose recently did an unambiguously good thing, by publishing the API for the audio hardware they were originally going to brick: https://www.theverge.com/news/858501/bose-soundtouch-smart-speakers-open-source -
Bose recently did an unambiguously good thing, by publishing the API for the audio hardware they were originally going to brick: https://www.theverge.com/news/858501/bose-soundtouch-smart-speakers-open-source@cloudhop Let's be clear - there are some opposing issues here.
What BOSE has done is opened up the API to a device they are EOL'ing. Yes, this is a good thing.
However, praising them for "open-sourcing" the hardware is incorrect. They have not open-sourced anything. This is why they still deserve criticism.

I've now witnessed second hand how #harassment and #CyberStalking works on the #Fediverse .@juergen_hubert I think there are some lists for blocks that can be used to address -- but they are a bit on the slow side.
IMO - eventually when we have a portable profile system, it will likely be easier to block a user's profile, and hopefully identify if there are attempts to create new profiles by the same person.
But I'm completely specualting here...
