@Taskerland @Printdevil From all I heard, star cooks are one of the most toxic group of professionals out there.
It's okay for food to be adequate, and for people having to wait another five minutes. Or the restaurant having three fewer tables to the reduce the maximum number of simuoltaneous orders.
It's some cooks who insist that cooking should be a martyrdom for everyone involved.

This made me laugh...@Taskerland Running games is something where I think ADHD can be more a benefit than a hindrance. If you structure your game in a way that doesn't require juggling many things at the same time and having several books open and notes to reference at once.

Seeing a car from the 90s with collector/classic car plates really hurt.@Tim_Eagon In Germany, they changed the rules from 25 to 30 years a while back.
Otherwise I could get the plate on my Golf 4 now.

Hallelujah, they’re actually going to re-release the original 1977 version of Star Wars theatrically in February 2027.@Tim_Eagon @croyle We really need Return of the Jedi too.
Somehow, The Empire Strikes Back is fine. The only pointless change I am aware of in that one is changing Vader's line when he goes back to his shuttle after the lightsaber fight. The original has more weight. (But the new one doesn't hurt.)
The only changes I know in the movie are the shot of the Wampa eating, and more looks at the outside of Cloud City, which are all good additions.

Is Enid Blyton still a thing?@Taskerland My mom read some to us back around 1990 and they were quite cool.
Though felt a lot like historical fiction even then. Maybe because of my mother keeping to point of old-timey things she thought for funny. -

I am finding it much easier to create a fantasy world for a videogame than for a pen and paper campaignI am finding it much easier to create a fantasy world for a videogame than for a pen and paper campaign.
In a videogame, you won't get players trying to walk beyond the edges of the map or asking questions about things you have not prepared. It feels much easier to just come up with the stuff that you know is going to be relevant and not have to think about what my lie outside the play area. -
Just a FYI to anyone following me via the BS bridge, because BlueSky can’t (or won’t) get their shit together, much of the Fediverse is thinking about defederating the bridge.@Printdevil @Tim_Eagon When you suddenly can't keep up the illusion anymore.

Calling on the knowledge of @juergen_hubert 'nIn the Baltic Sea region, we have lots of swamps that prevent microbial decay of organic material and rusting of metal.@juergen_hubert @cptbutton But when you throw them into a deep pond, I think the implication is that they won't be able to come back from the other side.

Calling on the knowledge of @juergen_hubert 'nIn the Baltic Sea region, we have lots of swamps that prevent microbial decay of organic material and rusting of metal.I know about several stories about such ponds in my area that are said to be bottomless. And there's well documented ancient practices of throwing weapons and human sacrifices into such ponds.
And of course in the Arthur myth, we have a spirit lady delivering a sword from the depths of a lake, and Arthur disappearing to a timeless island (on a lake?)
So the suggestion that these places are gateways to another magical world seems quite strong to me.

In the Baltic Sea region, we have lots of swamps that prevent microbial decay of organic material and rusting of metal. Their bottoms are also covered in very soft, carbon-rich silt that is perfectly black and swallows up everything dropped into the water. And Germanic folklore, has many water spirits that abduct people, never to be seen again.
Is it a common thing in Germanic folklore that such ponds are seen as portals to the Underworld?

I'm so done with 80+ degree weather in late September, early October!@chgowiz @Tim_Eagon One thing that I experienced working outdoors is that the optimal working temperature for human bodies is 20°C.
Everything warmer than that get uncomfortable for anything except standing and sitting around.I imagine for animals with fur, the optimal temperature would be even lower.

I'm so done with 80+ degree weather in late September, early October!@chgowiz @Tim_Eagon I'm curious. How does temperature affect deer hunting?
Do cool deer get slower? Does smell travel less? -

The #Fediverse has a problem with global #representation.@juergen_hubert Perhaps it's not up to Europe and North America to tell the rest of the world that they should be using our software.

Mastodon doesn't really seem to be the place to have meaningful discussions, but maybe some interesting thoughts could come out of this anyway:Mastodon doesn't really seem to be the place to have meaningful discussions, but maybe some interesting thoughts could come out of this anyway:
Aside from not having regular space travel (though maybe airships), are there significant differences between #PlanetaryRomance and #SpaceOpera? Are there really differences in stock characters, stock plots, and archetypes?
Couldn't Dune just as well (or even more) be called Planetary Romance than Space Opera? -
