Listen, if you’re a console gamer, and you don’t like the rising cost of games—the solution is to become a PC gamer.
Last month on GOG, I bought:
Dustborn
Lumencraft
Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior
Machineboy: The Complete Collection
MeteoHeroes
Tunnel of Doom
Voodolls
Total price after tax: C$13.76. That’s for eight games. Or C$1.72 per game.
“But I prefer physical games and I don’t want to emulate!”
Sure, and GOG is DRM-free. Which means you can create as much physical media as you want in whatever form.
And none of the games I bought were emulated. They’re all original PC games. What’s more, they work well on a wide variety of hardware.
I’m not saying PC is better. But I am saying that, when it comes to the price of games, it’s less expensive.
The only big downside about PC gaming is that what you buy has no resale value. And it’s not collectible in the sense of “This is an official copy”. But then again, I buy games to play—not as investment vehicles.
