Its an export of a product, which derives tax revenue, which derives income taxes, which results in government programs to help the poor. Pretending like its not vital in our ecosystem is silly, its our food source, it provides us building materials, corporate exports give your dollar value and are the red blood cells of society.

Take from one group of poor people to benefit another group of poor people? That doesn’t sound like a good thing to me.

You receive a miniscule percentage of the value you create for your employer. The employer needs profits to increase constantly in order to provide value to the shareholders. When the total value of the company increases you at best receive the same cut of the value your produce. Usually though, your percentage cut decreases relative to total value so that the employer can extract greater value as demanded by shareholders. You aren’t paid out of the profits, they take a cut of the value you produce by virtue of owning the company. This is why wages do not increase proportionally to productivity. I am not spouting nonsense, you just aren’t equipped to understand what I am saying.

Found the manager. Businesses pay employees as little as is legally possible in many cases while raking in huge profits.

any time a government is trying to fast track a bill, every resident should be paying special attention; no matter their party of choice.

pretty crazy that this came from the Liberals

Revenue and profits are not the same thing. If you’re going to abrasively assert stuff, at least don’t be wrong.

I’m upset that more deference to House MPs’ summer vacation was given in the Senate than the potential impact to our rights.

I’m still cautiously optimistic about Bill C-5 (though Bill C-2 needs to either be scrapped or massively reworked IMO), since there could be bills to amend the laws again, or matters of discretion that come out of this summer’s consultation.

The power is in the government now in law, but the civil and legal pushback will come depending on how forceful the government attempts to use this newly gained power.

I don’t think there was any distraction. We had two shit choices and NDP. And since this country fails to elect NDP time after time, it was a given that we were pretty fucked. The main difference during this election between the parties that I saw were:

                        1. The Liberal platform didn’t contradict itself every point or two

                        2. The Liberal platform focused a lot more on domestic tourism, accessibility, and making it easier to transport our own goods across provincial borders.

I don’t see how bill C-5 fits into any of the platform they put forward.

That happened because Americans developed a general paranoia of the government, and since the GOP was better at mobilizing the paranoid vote than the Democrats they started losing rights.

People in the US are generally angry at the Democrats for being incapable of doing anything so they voted for Trump in the false hope that things would change. Or not voting at all because the internet told them the whole system is broken (PP kind of messaging). But I guess changes happened, but not anything positive.

The left seems have become more like what conservatives used to be like. Opposing the government on any change in favour of symbolic traditionalism.

Employers expend the least amount of resources necessary in order to maximize their profits, this is a practice that is not only accepted but celebrated as being “good” for the economy. So workers should follow suit and expend the least amount of their skills and labour in order to maximize their profits. If it is acceptable at the scale of billions it should be acceptable on the scale of thousands.

There is no ‘theft of time’ from an entity that owns more than 1/4 (plus commute) of your life.

I think had we had a minority Conservative gouvernent with a strong NDP opposition, we would be in a much better situation.

I hate the conservatives but fuck the liberals for being dishonest hypocritical pieces of shit.

The bourgeois parties are always hypocrites. They pretend to serve the people while their only material interest is capital. Give the manifesto a shot or if you don’t want to read, listen to this speech by my favorite man. It changed my perspective on the world, genuinely.
