I don’t know where you went to college, but these are the staple local dish in Rochester NY.

I’m cleaning out the leftovers one meal at a time. The wife wanted hashbrowns. That’s a perfect vehicle for my second to last smoked sausage, half an onion, some venison chili, half a loaf of homemade bread and the last of our eggs.

It looks like a hot mess because it is. But there are less leftovers clogging up the kitchen.

The eggs thing bothers me though. This is the first time in 7 years that we don’t have any eggs. The hens are old and decided not to lay in the colder season and we haven’t even hit winter yet. Normally we are giving away eggs this time of year. I might have to actually buy eggs soon.

      Cost per person? Completely unknown.

Good buddy you call that trash?

I’d drop a summer in whatever hippie free love militia compound/commune for that.

Well, as an American, I definitely know what that is, lol

        Also, £12 is about $15.71.

It used to be about 2:1 in the exchange rate, but both of our currencies have been slipping lately

As an american, what about what they said wasn’t something you could understand? Like, seriously, the only thing potentially understandable to not know is satay, if you don’t live in a metropolitan area.

I’m not familiar with “battered chicken balls” not sure if that’s another way of saying nuggets or something else. Satay is something I miss after moving out of a metropolitan area. I should probably make some. My wife loves the spicy peanut sauce more than the meat on a stick.

Lol ok. I figured there was a chance it wasn’t ROC, since I I’ve seen plates on a menu like one other place.

Enjoy the days where you can eat like this. Eventually your metabolism slows and all of it catches up.

                  That is a “garbage plate“.

When I went to college, there was a local restaurant that made garbage plates, they became pretty famous for it. There’s nothing better to soak up all the booze after a night of clubbing than a garbage plate.

I’m not sure what part of the world you’re from but in the UK, Chinese restaurants and takeaways popularised then concept of the Munchy Box.

Basically, a pizza box rammed with carbs and meats - chips, rice, battered chicken balls, onion rings, satay sticks, salads, all sorts of shit.

It’s like a happy meal for an adult. Being absolutely smashed while troughing it only adds to the experience. Usually good for then following morning too.

                    in the UK

                    Rochester NY

Having lived in both places I’m now reflecting on the uncanny overlap of culinary traditions ahaha

No wonder I feel at home here.

I’m over half a century old. I’ve lost 6 lb in the last month. You’ve seen the kind of food I eat. I look forward to the day when I’m able to get by on a salad.
