@briankrebs Data privacy aside, how would I know that this info wouldn't just find its way out onto the dark web for sale? I already gave up everything including my arsehole print to these fucks so that's one party who shouldn't have it already but that shouldn't mean I want it distributed more widely. Feels deeply unworkable for essentially having every bit of info that a fraudster could destroy my life with.

@nini @briankrebs A number of Elon Musk's DOGE staff is still active in many part of the US government. Based on some news reports, DOGE also installed a lof of backdoors in the government IT infrastructure. You should assume that all the personal data you surrender to the US government will end up in Musk's data centres.

We knew this was coming, but now the clock is running. From Privacy International:

"Yesterday the Trump Administration announced a proposed change in policy for travellers to the U.S. It applies to the powers of data collection by the Customs and Border Police (CBP)."

"If the proposed changes are adopted after the 60-day consultation, then millions of travellers to the U.S. will be forced to use a U.S. government mobile phone app, submit their social media from the last five years and email addresses used in the last ten years, including of family members. They’re also proposing the collection of DNA."

PI linked to and summarized a Federal Register entry describing the proposed requirements:

-All visitors must submit ‘their social media from the last 5 years’

-ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) applications will include ‘high value data fields’, ‘when feasible’
‘telephone numbers used in the last five years’
-‘email addresses used in the last ten years’
-‘family number telephone numbers (sic) used in the last five years’
-biometrics – face, fingerprint, DNA, and iris
-business telephone numbers used in the last five years
-business email addresses used in the last ten years.

Reminder that US Citizenship, to get rid of, is a COST of $2,350

This citizenship is literally a debt hole. Its a "pay to exit", if you have a ticket to another country.

        If not, you're trapped here.

@briankrebs Forced to use mobile phone app? Like... mobile phone is now a requirement to enter US? Mobile phone capable of running that app? Not good. Asking for personal data of other people? That should not be legal. Nor should be the other stuff :-(.

@rbos I pre-generated a thousand email addresses, registered them with my email provider, and loaded them into my password manager. They're ready to go for new accounts with a simple rename.

The whole "tagging" thing with Gmail is one of those theoretical things I know about but have never done.

              @ericphelps
That is a delightfully over-engineered solution and it definitely works well. Tagged addresses are going to be inferior but much simpler. Also spammers would be looking for tagged addresses.

As to how, just add +string to the username of a Gmail address. It'll go to your main box. Easy to filter if needed.

Many email servers support that syntax. Others like qmail use -string.

@arrakeen_urbanite @briankrebs not all, start by declaring ICE a terror organisation and refusing to allow anyone who works for it to travel, and then target members of the Administration specifically.

@ojensen @briankrebs my website generates time-limited email addresses. The key for generating them is the time to millisecond accuracy i.e. I'm accumulating 1,000 new addresses every second. About 4 billion since I put this system in place.

We knew this was coming, but now the clock is running. From Privacy International:

this data could be used to copy visitors, maybe disappear them, and then ai-impersonate them into potential 'terrorists' to accuse and retaliate against anyone in the world.

IOW, the Trump Regime plan to abduct anyone who comes anywhere near their web of influence.

And they will not stop at people who physically enter the US,

But anyone who communicates by the 'information highway' most of which is owned by Bezos and Musk and a couple others.
