What the actual fuck?

@VisualStuart
So they're hostages.@tlariv @VisualStuart that's true, I suppose
-
What the actual fuck? ICE has been holding three members of the Oglala Sioux tribe in detention since Friday. Tribal members are US citizens by statute.
Homeland Security is refusing to release any information on these tribal members, other than first names, until the tribe enters into an "immigration agreement" with ICE. Again, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?

The president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota said three of the four tribal members detained by ICE agents in Minneapolis last week have been transferred to an ICE facility and called for their immediate release.

@VisualStuart Sounds about Reich.

@VisualStuart Should good guys start signing up for ICE already or is reservation for other?
-
@dmayhood @VisualStuart
Genuinely, why aren't the actual police involved? They could show some spine and differentiate themselves in a positive way.@fella The police are very selective about which laws they feel like enforcing.
-
@huntingdon @VisualStuart ICE has any power they take for themselves until someone actually stops them. And juridical methods donβt count at βstoppingβ unless there is actual enforcement.
@ahltorp @huntingdon @VisualStuart the only effective means to stop them are physics!
- The #2A exists precisely to stop on the #AmericanGestapo!
Why ain't people freeing those #US #citizens?
- Do all those that look away believe they'll be spared??

@VisualStuart I see from other news articles that this isn't the first time ICE has swept homeless encampments to meet their quotas. It would be difficult for many homeless people to prove their citizenship, given they are so often victims of theft.
Thank goodness these folk had tribal members to vouch for them.
-
@fella The police are very selective about which laws they feel like enforcing.

I presume habeas corpus petitions will be filed shortly, to find out where and on what basis ICE is detaining three US citizen Oglala Sioux.
ICE's has very limited police powers. They are restricted to immigration enforcement. They have no authority to make random stops, to detain generally, or to enter into any private space without a warrant signed by an Art. III judge.
You don't seriously expect ICE goons understanding the actual details of the status of the first nations? Their own education in these topics was likely restricted to movies in the Western genre. They are probably thinking they're "saving America from the Indians".
-
@MissConstrue @nielso @VisualStuart Referring to ICE as the Gestapo might imply that they are shrewd political operators, but this group of thugs is much closer to a classic American lynch mob.
@mikemccaffrey @MissConstrue @nielso @VisualStuart
In my region, it wasn't GESTAPO who murdered concentration camp inmates who had managed to flee from Mauthausen in 1945, it was SS and Hitlerjugend boys and other locals.
(And they also went from door to door). -
@fella The police are very selective about which laws they feel like enforcing.
@roknrol @fella @dmayhood @VisualStuart Oh, they'll enforce any law, it's WHO they enforce laws upon that is very selective.

@mikemccaffrey @nielso @VisualStuart
I see your overall point, but Iβd argue the enforcers have always been dumb thugs. Thatβs what dumb thugs are for. The leadership of the Gestapo may have been strategic thinkers, but not so much the head breakers.
Just as today, ICE is being piloted by Vought and Miller, both despicably evil creatures. Miller may be most evil, what with being a haunted Victorian doll possessed by the souls of unrepentant Nazis, but Russell Vought is pretty goddamned evil, and operating under the radar.

@VisualStuart @EllisArcwolf the "immigration agreement" needs to be "ICE members will be sent to Siberia."
-

@glitzersachen @huntingdon @VisualStuart it's a simple flow chart: skin tone brown => fash thug mode.
-
@VisualStuart βHomeland Security refused to release more information, unless the tribe βentered into an immigration agreement with ICE.ββ
The heck kind of agreement?
i'm sure it's a treaty, like all the treaties native americans have been forced to sign and then get screwed by.
-
@VisualStuart so, hostages
"Hostages" implies a willingness to trade them for desired things.

@VisualStuart honorary immigrants. Just not white enough to count as American.
-
ICE are openly admitting it isn't about "immigration", it's all about white supremacy.
White Supremacy Enforcement would be a more accurate name.
Where the F are they going to "deport" Native Americans to?
@FediThing @VisualStuart ICE Indiscriminate Caucasian Exterminators?
-
@nielso @VisualStuart and this times require humans that stand up for the ones who cant defend themselves. I somehow miss them in the Land of the brave. Pls correct me if wrong.
@elsa @nielso @VisualStuart Cambodians should stand up and defend Americans as a thank you for the megatons of illegal bombs thrown on top of their heads in the illegal, secret, congress-unapproved war against a country there was no declaration of war against, called Operation Menu.
Defend those who deliberately, willingly, knowingly and intentionally voted for a known authoritarian.

@angeldruckt Tribal members are Native Americans, however the term tribal members in this case also indicates that they are registered members of a federally recognized tribe.
By contrast, the Chinook of the Pacific Northwest are not a federally recognized tribe which denies Chinook members access to federal healthcare, housing, and education benefits.
@VisualStuart @angeldruckt I feel

towards the US regime when I am reading that "Chinook of the Pacific Northwest are not a federally recognized tribe which denies Chinook members access to federal healthcare, housing, and education benefits."
