@Taskerland @strangequark I think the attention to detail in the woodcut art assets are what makes that scenario...

I don't know how, but some dude came by and showed off his marionette whose strings were woven into a tapestry. Looked quite a bit like you actually, now that I think about it. I'm sure it's nothing sinister, but you should check it out just in case!#TTRPG #DnD #ToVhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/college-of-146355434/

I posted about this a year or more ago. One thing you don’t see in campaigns is migrations. Actually that’s not entirely true. The forgotten realms had the dragons move. And there were occasional orc hordes from the north. But think about a large swarm of man sized spiders that breed incredibly fast. They surge and flow back-and-forth across large stretches of forest or plains. as they hunt out an area they move. Like large groups of army ants. #ttrpg

We played Pathfinder 2 on Saturday and finished a chapter! We were on a quest to find an ancient elf who had been sucked into the Void. We found the spot where his tower had been and there was a Void gate or portal or something there, so we went through it.We found a prison inside the Void, which we did not expect. And it turned out our guy was in there. So we did some recon to figure out how to get into it with minimal observance by the guards. The prison apparently allowed visitors, which helped us blend in, and the Wizard did a nice job faking it when we had to talk to someone. The mechanics of this section were a little weird. There were skill checks we had to pass, like everyone had to try athletics, or perception, or thievery, and we had to net 4 total passes to get through that section. Then there were normal spots where we would have an encounter. And in addition to earning points for passing those skills checks, we could ALSO earn "edge" points sometimes, which were kind of a "get out of jail free" card. If we got to a point where it looked like we weren't going to pass our skill check, we could spend an "edge" point to turn a fail into a pass. Oh, and at the same time all of that was happening, we were also accumulating points toward "the guards are going to notice you" but I cannot remember what those were called. We fought some corrupted spidery people. I think they were bounty hunters or enforcers of some kind, and they didn't really look like spiders but they wore stuff that looked like webs, they could exude spider silk, and they could summon giant tarantulas and spider swarms. It was pretty satisfying to crunch their giant spider with my warhammer. I critted it twice, and both times it failed its save and fell down (if I crit, the target has to save against being knocked down). We had to go down into the sewers, and we discovered a thing that looked like a hydra made of bones (ick). It had some kind of ability to pull us in (even if you made the save, you got pulled in 5 feet), and it was tough because it was in water that was difficult terrain at the edges and deep enough we would need to swim in the middle. But we have enough Water Walk that we could mitigate that and we eventually smashed him to smithereens. We got out of the sewer through a vertical shaft that led into the cell block we needed. Our guy was behind two sets of Void bars and then he was encased in a coffin that was like a wall of force. So we had to get through all of that without being heard. We rescued him, and we were going to hightail it out of there, but he begged us to go release some other captives. Apparently the warden had some of them in a special spot (we never did figure out why).So we consulted the map we had constructed (oh, that was ANOTHER set of points we had to earn along the way), and figured out where to go. We arrived unobserved and set about releasing the captured souls (they are all souls - our guy was a ghost). We took some void damage, but not very much between between the Champion decreasing damage whenever she could, and the energy aegis I cast on everyone (we had damage reduction versus void damage), the damage really didn't accumulate as much as it could have.We finally got them all free (one of them attacked us, so how's that for gratitude?), and then we made our way out of the prison and back through the gate/portal to our own plane. The guy we rescued gave us some parting gifts (a lot of knowledge about the Big Bad we're going to fight) and something also happened to our magic items - I think we get to choose one and it gets elevated or something, but we're waiting on an email from the DM to clarify that. And we leveled, so I need to do that before next Saturday. This means we are level 19. I'm guessing that we will level one more time before we fight the ultimate Bad Guy. I need to make a shopping list of items I need to replace or acquire. I am terrible at that. I never know what will really be useful and I don't like doing the math to figure out how much it costs to sell my old rune and buy a better rune (like for improving a weapon from a plus 2 to a plus 3). Pathbuilder helps with a lot of that, but it can't tell me what would be useful for me to get.I like playing because I like being part of a team and I really like the folks we play with. But I don't love this game system enough to want to read through all the options in the book. I guess I'm not THAT good a gamer. This means I don't know what the options even are, which makes finding the most useful stuff difficult for me.It was a fun session. Then we had to go out in bone-chilling cold to get home (11 degrees Fahrenheit? BRRRR)#Pathfinder2e #ttrpg
