@Printdevil When my Mrs did psychology Sussex there was a dude who was the world expert of pointing apes. He was only interested in pointing apes, he only published about pointing apes, he only lectured about pointing apes

The kickstarter box is Rowntrees, everyone else gets Nestlé stuff.

Admittedly this means all the stuff in the KS is from prior to 1988 but no one ever opens kickstarter editions, they are for shelf porn pictures.

It has to be an outreach program they got a tenured chair for, possibly due to a museum grant.

"The tender for the position went out and you were the only person qualified in the entire of Kilmarnock, and that included interviewing people who just have a subscription to Crunchy Roll"

@Printdevil @Taskerland @RogerBW My challenge turns out to be deciding whether "Ninja Studies" is simply an awful lot of points in an Expert Skill I make up, or creating optional specializations for a large number of scholarly skills (so far I have opted for "both").

@Printdevil @Taskerland @RogerBW An advantage of the latter is you can have an academic with extensive knowledge about Japanese theatrical history, historical anthropology, evolution of stereotypes through Japanophile popular media, cultural soft power, the nuances of Sengoku-era social change and its depiction in literature etc. but the university's marketing really needed a headline so guess who's Professor of Ninjutsu Studies now, and hates it.

My counter position is the Film Studies graduate who obsessed about Ninjamania boom, and ended up getting the Social-Anthro position, and now finds themselves having to play the role of seriously political theorist and historian in the plots of the game, despite having fallen asleep during "Ninja III: the Domination"

Which actually is a very solid character for an RPG as we do all love a wastrel.
