    The Canadian Political Fediverse is growing!
    Avi Lewis @avilewis joined today!

    He joins NDP leadership candidates @votetanille and @tonymcquailgreenprogressive!

    Add in BC Greens @mlabotterell and @emilylowan

    And the pioneer of them all! Senator Simons! @Paulatics

    Now if we can just get parties and governments to create their own instances so people can be confident they are authentic and we can grow the #socialweb!

    More!

      @chris @avilewis @votetanille @tonymcquailgreenprogressive @mlabotterell @emilylowan @Paulatics parliament and the provincial legislatures should be able to allow self-verification of Fedi accounts from official parliament/legislature pages, government IT would just have to sign off (ie. a link on the official page says "this is my fedi profile" and Mastodon picks that up, I have done that for my account)

        @chris @avilewis @votetanille @tonymcquailgreenprogressive @mlabotterell @emilylowan @Paulatics It's so so frustrating that institutions aren't standing up their own Masto instances.

          @chris @avilewis I agree that the best medium-term solution would be for parties and legislatures to create official servers (you can go back and forth about the merits of each with people changing parties and people who are not currently in parliament but active in party politics).

            @OrionKidder @chris @avilewis @votetanille @tonymcquailgreenprogressive @mlabotterell @emilylowan @Paulatics baby steps! Let them join and become familiar with the platform before we push them towards the next level of running their own instances 😂
