@atomicpoet I never used one, so don't know what the GUI was like, which was the Mac's strength. If Jobs would've affected that, when it was something that was selling? Who knows?

@atomicpoet Would he still have attracted people like Larry Tesler and would he have been given enough control to do what he envisioned? He doesn't seem to have been the easiest person to work with and typically, it's the bosses who can get away with that behaviour.

I suspect that things worked out the way they were supposed to work out.

@atomicpoet I don't think it would've been the same. I worked in a lab (science research) in which we had a PC, and few used it. When the boss brought in a Mac, he forced the researchers to use it (only way to make them try it)...and those that had hated the PC found that they loved it. The difference in UI was remarkable. With the Mac, you just had to turn it on and there was no figuring out software or having to type in code and commands, it was just intuitive.

@atomicpoet It's also interesting to watch ones with up and coming actors. Somehow The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre got made, it is horrible, so horrible that it was shelved...until two of its unknown actors became A listers. (Renée Zellweger &

@atomicpoet I do think that different mentalities gravitate to different platforms and different software. There is some software that makes me happy to use vs having to use.

@atomicpoet Naw...I went from Wordstar, which I learned, to word-processing on a Mac, which was night and day.

I've used software on a PC and Mac, and the PC always had me pulling out my hair because the PC mentality was that one should be a programmer, while Mac invited you to use it. PCs started becoming more Mac-like, but still usually more steps, and Macs started becoming more PC-like as they became more complex and started burying stuff that used to be front and centre.

@atomicpoet Good UI, for me, is intuitive, you don't have to figure out how to do something because it's obvious. Apple used to be really good at that. Now, not so much.

@atomicpoet I don’t understand why women give that info to tech. Calendar on the wall and a pencil keeps techbros & gov out of it. Which isn’t saying this is ok, I just don’t understand the need for an app for everything.

@atomicpoet FWIW, you look good. Dad bod, sure, but that is not a bad thing, and the rest of what you talk about is the whole point of exercise, being able live your live instead of being held back because you can't catch your breath.
