I've posted about this on my other account @homegrown which is for people who run their own servers, and boosted it on here to get it a bit more visible. Hopefully that gets the word out to admins

How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:I had several people ask me how to stop bridging, because they had bridged a while ago and didn't know how to stop it.
Also people asked me how to stop seeing bridged posts.
So, I've posted instructions on how to do both these things.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:As far as I can tell, your server has already defederated Threads, so you don't need to do anything else!
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:There were people asking how to block it who had bridged it a long time ago and didn't know how to stop it.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:Does it say "mute domain"? If so it may be the same option with a different name.
Blocking domains is not quite as powerful as a block but more powerful than a mute, so there is some disagreement over which word to use.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:If the option isn't in your app, log in with your server's website and do the blocking there.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:It should hide any posts from that domain, even if they're boosted.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:Yes, but it's not as powerful as an admin defederating the domain.
The user selects "block domain" on the profile of a user from that domain.
It hides all the domain's posts and accounts, and removes any connections you have with the domain (follows/followers).

How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:Bridging an RSS feed that is described as an RSS feed is fine. That's what RSS Parrot does on the Fediverse, the icon is an RSS icon
and everyone can see what is going on.What bridgy is doing is taking the icon of the website and not using the word "rss" in the description. It looks like the website has joined Bluesky.
"ok, but even if you block this account you still see bridges accounts from BSKY"
Not if you block the domain too.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:1. I have had several people ask how they can opt out, they bridged a long time ago and didn't know how to opt out. The post above is trying to help them as well as those who want to stop seeing Bluesky.
2. The bridge is only opt in for Fedi accounts, it's not opt in for websites. Some of my websites have been bridged by brid.gy without my permission or knowledge.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:"Anyway, how are you deplatforming ICE by blocking the bridge? Could you explain?"
Your reply was just about the ICE account and now you're pretending you were talking about the bridge in general?
Once again:
Deplatforming ICE stops them spreading bigoted lies to people's timelines. Bluesky should have deplatformed them, but chose to platform them instead.
Blocking the Bluesky bridge is because people want nothing to do with an organisation that welcomes Trump's lackeys and thugs.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:"and got blocked in mass right away"
The "most blocked accounts" lists on Bluesky are all blocked by only a minority of users. That means most people on Bluesky will be seeing these accounts and the hatred they post.
"but only now there is an outcry because the accounts got a blue checkmark"
No, this isn't true at all. All the Trump accounts were all verified at the time they arrrived, and there was an outcry at the time it happened. Bluesky emailed Fox News to welcome JD Vance.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:"Honestly, take a deep breath, and think about what I'm telling you"
Are you able to communicate with people without patronising them?
Your replies come across as troll-like, and if you keep replying in this fashion I'm going to assume this discussion isn't in good faith.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:Don't you dare "both sides" this.
There is one particular side that is doing the kidnappings and killings right now. We all need to be fighting against it.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:No one should be having anything to do with kidnappers and murderers.
"I'm pretty sure no one on Bluesky will be radicalized by such an account"
The reason fascists want platforming is because it works. Every time they get an audience, a certain percentage will believe their hate-filled lies and their following grows.
Fascists need to be deplatformed in every way and at every opportunity. They are not discussing things in good faith, they are spreading hatred against innocent people.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:"You present your advice as neutral"
I absolutely do not.
I am against fascism and bigotry.
My entire point for doing all my accounts and sites without pay is to try to fight the hatred.
Neutrality at a time like this is obscene.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:Fascism is rising, the world is the most in danger it has been since 1939, we all have a duty as human beings to stop it.
Please put your energy into that instead of doing debating society crap.
-
How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:It's not sensitivity or "virtue signalling", it's genuine anger over what is being done to people. It is sincere concern for innocent human lives.
The entire reason I do my accounts and sites is because I am terrified of what is being done to vulnerable groups, and furious with those who are doing it.
If you disagree with this stance, you're free to unfollow me.
