How has this impacted the type of development, and price of housing in BC so far?

Extreme propaganda programming seems the cornerstone of any “legitimate” democracy. Not healthy for you. GM partnered with/licensed China for US battery plant, and Mexico is not particularly know for battery science expertise, and China partnership there led to plants. Canada can do the same, with Canadian sourced raw materials. Honda was supposed to do something. Start threatening auto companies to invest or get their assets seized.

Burnaby was the city that increased developer fees 50k after they took money from the housing accelerator fund.

For those wondering, here is Bonnie Critchley’s platform: Bonnie understands the frustration many Albertans feel with Ottawa, but she also knows that separation would only create deeper economic, social, and security challenges for families here. She is committed to fighting for Alberta’s fair treatment within Confederation and ensuring rural voices are heard at the federal table. Having fought bush and grass fires and assisted in multiple evacuations, especially of livestock, Bonnie knows firsthand the real and growing impacts of climate change. She has seen how extreme weather events threaten lives, farms, and entire communities across Alberta. Focus on Crime Prevention Support policies that tackle illegal gun trafficking and organized crime, not rural families who rely on firearms for predator control or livelihood. “Investing in our communities is about more than just building roads and bridges. It’s about building a future we can be proud of.” As someone who has spent her life in rural Alberta, Bonnie knows that family farms are the backbone of our communities and economy. She believes farmers deserve fair policies that keep them independent and thriving not pushed out by corporate consolidation. Bonnie believes that if you own something, you should have the right to repair it. She does not believe the government has any place in regulating how people manage their own bodies, their health, or their personal choices. This includes reproductive rights, gender identity, and how individuals choose to present themselves.

I went in to get a vaccine for foreign travel (~6 years ago) and the nurse suggested getting the MMR vaccine because of an additional vaccine in the mix. I had the MMR in school (90s) but it has been expanded, so it was a free shot

Definitely same funding sources and playbook. If you can look to the south and say to yourself “Yeah, I want that” I personally think you should leave. This planet would be nice, but I’ll settle for this country. We don’t want you here.

Yeah that’s a fair point—I feel like you could manage this incident with a police helicopter or something. Maybe NORAD was just bored and itching for an excuse to scramble…

Attendees at the first stop of Premier Danielle Smith’s travelling “Alberta Next” roadshow in Red Deer were overwhelmingly supportive of her series of proposals to enhance Alberta’s autonomy. This is likely due to the fact that free tickets for the event were released to UCP members before the general public, a source who holds a UCP membership confirmed to the Progress Report. In June, Premier Smith announced a 14-person panel that would solicit Albertans’ input on six policy areas—equalization, a provincial pension plan, a provincial police force, withholding social services from some immigrants, constitutional reform and forgoing the Canada Revenue Agency. In the following days, the panel was expanded by two members, bringing the total to 16. The town halls are divided into each policy area, with attendees shown a five-minute video before they were given the opportunity to line up and provide feedback on each issue. These videos, which have been criticized as “heavily biased,” are the same ones participants in the province’s online survey have to view before answering questions, which are themselves leading.

Just in case anyone isn’t aware and hasn’t signed it, Heather McPherson is also the MP who backed petition e-6619, which calls upon the federal government to send peacekeeping forces into Gaza. A petition requires MP support to be posted, and 500 signatures to be tabled and warrant an official response from the federal government. This petition has 15k+ signatures and is still open until July 26. Don’t forget to sign it if you haven’t already!

Canada has a lot to offer and to gain from being part of the Eurostack initiative. I think The Conversation just wrapped news about Eurostack in Canada wrapping paper to get views. Canada can’t be a part of Eurostack; its goal is bring everything (tech) in-house. Aside investing capital so Eurostack can hit its lofty 300 billion euro goal in 10 years, I dont see what Canada can offer or gain from this. If the “gain” is that we stop Canadian dependence on US tech, we’d just be swapping one overlord for another. Yes, of course we could reduce our dependence on US tech, but Canada should be stealing this page from Europe’s playbook and making their own Euro Canstack

You mentioned precedent before. What precedent would it set if someone could work for a company, be handed millions in stock options, and then run for office with the secret but explicit understanding that the stock options were arranged as a way to incentivize certain policy positions? I wouldn’t be totally opposed to what you’re suggesting, but as you say, there’s no mechanism for doing it. So, too bad for Carney, he should have thought of this before he agreed to be paid in stock options and then run for PM. This is his own mess! And frankly I’m kind of shocked that anyone is defending a multimillionaire who’s doing something so brazenly counter to the spirit of our ethics rules. Well, I’d expect it from Trump or Poilievre supporters, sure.
