KNIGHTS is a minimalist puzzle game. The goal is simple: move a knight to the target square, using only legal chess moves.It’s easy to pick up. It’s also surprisingly good at making you stop and think.I bought this in May 2016. It took me nearly a decade to actually play it. I dismissed it for being too simple.That was a mistake. The design is tight. The puzzles are clever. Simplicity was the misdirection.

Then I wait until the next day (at the very least) and add handwritten annotations.Then I sit down before my desktop PC and change the text before uploading it to Patreon and typesetting it for the PDF and EPUB versions.

I would consider us broken by design, If I did not know that we were meant to catch fire and burn.

Randomly shuffling between tabs I caught sight of a post that was like, "Yeah, the industry is really misaligned from what people *want* as opposed to what we're making" and it strikes me how many different things that's about. Like, I'm having difficulty thinking of an industry that is just... Putting out useful things that people actually want instead of chasing the next 100b+ bubble.

I have now played every game I bought in May 2016. Most of these games sucked. And actually, I was scammed into buying the same game three times—it had different titles with sprite swaps. Eventually, it was removed from Steam. Not before I ended up buying them, though. Nevertheless, there were some incredible classics. These were the standouts: Tiny Troopers The Troma Project Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus Electronic Super Joy Cellar Not the best month for Steam purchases but there were still a few that were worth my time.
