Why is it so much fun to rake, and tear up cardboard, and cover the cardboard in fresh grass cuttings from overgrown spots in the alley between trailers, and take it all and mix it up to use for beds I won't even plant in until spring? I mean rake? I'm having fun? What is wrong with me?#gardening

I shelled the first third of the Bingo bean harvest yesterday evening. We grew a single 35 ft row of these. This is a pretty productive pole bean variety. The beans fall out easily of the dried pods. It needs a tall trellis as, in my experience, it can grow to 8+ ft. The beans are creamy white with dark purple speckles, with a few pods of dark purple beans with white speckles. A hearty bean, good in soups, etc. #gardening #GrowYourOwn

The cider apples are picked and on tap for pressing today along with some Gravensteins that have been in the fridge for awhile. We'll mix things together for fermentation. #gardening #GrowYourOwn

So I'm doing a classroom exercise for intro to gardening (a class mostly outdoors, in the garden) - I am thinking I'm going to talk about cycles. Seasonal, nitrogen, growth & decay, maybe some conditioning: cold hibernation or fire germination or heat ripening, that sort of thing..
