Add something like potato, or at least bread.

Why would I add potato to tomato soup? Why would I add bread to grilled cheese sandwiches?

In this house we believe that heartburn is a disease of cowards. Probably because we never get it. Which is why we can enjoy a big bowl of tomato soup.

We disagree with that. Besides, it would make for a balanced diet, which this here isn’t.

It’s taken a few days but the tomato soup is finally done. We ended up with about four quarts. We ate two of them today. Send more tomatoes.

Cost per person: $1.20 per person. Mostly in bread and cheese since the tomatoes were free and we used cheap balsamic in the soup. Can you order this anywhere? Of course. But also no.

I feel like food that takes multiple days to prepare needs a cost of labor included in the estimated price per person

I never understood tomato soup. It’s like eating a bowl of marinara sauce IMO.

I do now want grilled cheese though.

Add more acid like balsamic. Get rid of all the other veggies like onion and garlic. No oil. It’s different.

Five servings of vegetable with some bread and cheese on the side isn’t a balanced diet?

But there isn’t a way to universally price that. And once society collapses we will all have plenty of free time. I typically charge about $60 to $100 an hour for my labor. Clearly that’s not a viable option for cooking unless someone is going to pay me. Since no one is doing that the value is $0.

Ain’t no value on my love of sharing food!

Seriously though, this soup looks amazing. I normally don’t like homemade tomato soups (something in that can…) but your soup looks like it has the perfect texture. Amazing job

Honestly if you have hearburn issues, you can cook with bay leaves and supposedly it helps. I do it, and I think it helps.

Tomatoes, skins and seeds removed. heat, time. Once the large bits start to fall apart blend it. Add your flavors. It’s stupid simple but takes forever.
