@Printdevil I think so too, to everyone what they like but it is a mix to me. I like to play OSRish games because they present challenges up for player creativity and storygames because they let us all work on the world.

To me not being in-character and proclaiming what NPC says is a tool for managing pacing. The same with using not complex system - it allows better control of the flow. Both combat minigame and pointless in-character talk would bore me to tears on these recordings

@Taskerland yeah, it looks terrible. I'm used to internet GMs being mediocre-to-bad and thinking they're geniuses, I've seen this pattern for 20 years. You can say my interactions with them are based on no trust trad xd

@Taskerland on one hand I agree with you, it is chaotic mess. On the other hand the points of the critic are also crazy to me. This is a clash of cultures and I don't have a stake in any of them XD I'm neither tactical wargamer type nor high trust immersiver so this is like watching aliens to me hahaha

@Taskerland well, I listen mostly to ambient and movie scores without vocals yet when I used to be on Instagram I constantly got promoted content like "have you heard of this cheap autotune Polish disco music?"

@LeviKornelsen @nickdrawthing I also liked it a lot. Take this, take that, move away. There were some rules that made it less appealing, like the need to take ALL profession advancements before you can move to advanced class.

Also in campaigns with little to no downtime it was hard imagining how can you take up your new social class on the road.

But it was fun in this metagamey dndish way of planning your advancement. Dipping into peasant to take Oh Shit! ability xd

@Taskerland @Printdevil I vanished from TRPG larger scene (Polish) and was just playing, running and tinkering with games. I was late to discover both OSR and FitD games due to that. It was around five or six years. Then I came back into English-speaking TRPG scene as I am still today. It bugs me how prevalent is DnD and how people are shit. That's why I don't dig too deep and wander mostly here and on blogs. One has limited ability to handle stuff. Take care of yourself.

@Taskerland stop reading about it and keep playing. Look at @Printdevil, the ancient fish that crawled out into open ocean. Or me, who locked himself for a quite few years away from the big ocean. You'll live.

Also ancient fish clinging to life in slowly evaporating tidal pool sounds like hell of an idea for something.

@kevin @audreygwinter @Tim_Eagon @Da_Gut I believe my aversion to treating NPCs like PCs is able to traverse cultures of play. Also then players won't be bored during enemy phase because there are a lot of decisions ahead

@audreygwinter @kevin @Tim_Eagon @Da_Gut oh, I'm experimenting with this stuff. Player rolls to attack (but not for damage), player rolls to defend, I don't roll and focus on describing and running the game. I love it in Blades and other FitD games, why not use it EVERYWHERE!
