I'm not saying that lore is unnecessary or undesirable. I'm saying that historically, it was never included as part of what counted as "crunch", and at the time was even taken to be its opposite.

IIRC you spent gold on XP by carousing; basically, blowing all your cash on ale and brothels was how you leveled up.

Welcome back to Advent’s Amazing Advice! The series where I take popular One-Shots, Adventures, Campaigns, etc., and fully prep them for both New and Busy DMs. This prep includes fully fleshed-out notes, music, ambiance, encounter sheets, handouts, battle maps, tweaks, and more, so you can run the best sessions possible with the least stress possible! *New: For 2025, I’m updating all my old work to be more accessible for the Visually Impaired! Check out the link below, which contains improved notes with larger font, better contrast, color-blind features, and more! We’re back at it again with one of my favorite creators, Winghorn Press, from the much-loved A Wild Sheep Chase! This Level 3 One-Shot will have your players solving a mystery that might just shake them to their very core! A fearsome hound has been seen prowling the mist-soaked moors surrounding Cabell Manor, but what is the foul beast searching for? Is there any truth to the rumors tying the family to an ancient devilish evil, or is it just a local superstition? If they want to solve the mystery, your players will need to keep their wits just as sharp as their swords… Without further ado: Google Docs Notes for The Hound of Cabell Manor: DM Notes (Preview) (New) Link to: DM Notes for the Visually Impaired Link to: The Hound of Cabell Manor Playlist Link to: The Hound of Cabell Manor PDF Link to: The AAA Collection Included in The AAA Collection is: Downloadable copy of DM Notes, including links to music tracks for ambiance and fights (New) DM Notes for the Visually Impaired Special PDF for all encounters. This includes the enemy stat blocks organized neatly, along with an initiative tracker and a spot to mark HP Spell Sheet for Final Boss Custom Maps Over 7 dozen other Fully Prepped One-Shots, Adventures, and Campaigns: Click Here As always, if you see something you think I can improve, add, change, etc., please let me know. I want this to be an amazing resource for all DMs and plan to keep it constantly updated! If you’d like to support me, shape future releases, and get content early, feel free to check out my Patreon! Cheers, Advent

AI generated content is now banned. RPG-related discussion about generative AI is explicitly allowed. Please see this thread for more details: https://ttrpg.network/post/26260249

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I get that this is a contentious issue, and I appreciate everyone being nice to eachother (and me) while discussing it. (Those of you that didn’t, you know who you are) Based on the upvoted comments and the arguments that I found most cogent, I will be banning generative AI in the community. A few related issues were raised, and I’d like to explain how I intend to address them: https://ttrpg.network/post/26260249/17201676 Rhaedus raised concerns about the difficulty in determining if something is AI generated or not. As with all rule enforcement on this site, I’ll be relying on you all to report suspected violations, and I promise I’ll give you my best-effort attempt to make a fair judgement. https://ttrpg.network/post/26260249/17206513 Carl and others raised concerns that this might impact posts predominantly about human-created content that have some trivial or incidental amount of AI generated comment. In such a situation, if the use of Gen AI is really that minimal, it would never come to my attention in the first place, and therefore wouldn’t get removed anyway. Several users advocated for an explicit carve out for discussions about the use of AI, which is a good idea and will be included in the rule. Thank you again for your input and your civility.

Yes. Ironsworn is designed to be run either split or co-op without a GM (although it does have additional bits if you want to run with a GM). I recently just started my first game - haven’t gotten very far into it, though.

Hard rec for BFRPG, big time for me. If you want to learn the basics of D&D without spending too much money on official D&D (or struggling to find older versions in good contidion), this is a fantastic option for the PDF’s.

It’s a good video. Matt Colville (design director) even recommended it in his video. I’ve been following the game for several years. It’s got a lot of cool stuff. I’ve convinced some friends to try it out next week.

Were you expecting a response in the absolute maximum 6 hours between me posting this video and you leaving your comment? No, but I was expecting a response in the several months since I filled out their web contact form (not the email address you linked).

You’re presumably not an FLGS though, so you wouldn’t be the intended audience to learn that. I am a flgs owner. So I am the intended audience. Like, what would you expect, a page on their website that says “oh btw, we also support local game stores”? Yes, a lot of companies have a retailer page, especially companies that do not use a distributor. It directs retailers to contact their retail support, or lists their distributors, or has a link to their retailer web shop. Where did you even find the information that you based your first comment on? No retailer page. No retailer level on their crowd funding. No products in distribution. No contact info for retailers. No response to web form inquiring about retailer sales. [image: image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Ffiles.catbox.moe%2F6r4x80.png]

absolutely. The hardest thing about using youtube now is the thumbnail cringe and the constant asking you to log in.

Nothing on their website, nothing in their backer kit for retailers, not in distribution. I should not have to go to Reddit to find out if they support flgs or not.
  • Looks like they only sell direct and do not support flgs, hard pass.
